Moving your pet internationally can feel overwhelming, but with the right preparation, it's a smooth process. Here's everything you need to know about moving your pet from Thailand to China. ## Step 1: Microchip Your Pet Your pet must have an ISO 11784/11785 compliant microchip. This is the international standard and is required by most countries including China. If your pet already has a different type of microchip, you'll need to get an ISO-compatible one implanted. Make sure the microchip is implanted BEFORE the rabies vaccination. ## Step 2: Rabies Vaccination Your pet must be vaccinated against rabies at least 21 days before travel and no more than 12 months before travel. Puppies and kittens must be at least 3 months old for the rabies vaccine. ## Step 3: Health Certificate Within 10 days of travel, you need an official health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. This certificate confirms your pet is healthy and fit to travel. ## Step 4: Export Permit from Thailand You'll need to obtain an export permit from the Department of Livestock Development (DLD) in Thailand. This requires: - Completed application form - Copy of your passport - Copy of pet's vaccination records - Health certificate ## Step 5: Import Permit for China China requires an import permit, which your receiving party in China should apply for. Additionally, pets entering China may need to undergo quarantine (7-30 days depending on the category). ## Step 6: Book Your Pet's Flight Work with an IATA-approved pet transport service. Your pet will travel in a pressurized, temperature-controlled cargo hold in an IATA-approved travel crate. ## Estimated Costs - Microchipping: ฿500-1,000 - Rabies vaccine: ฿300-800 - Health certificate: ฿1,000-3,000 - DLD export permit: ฿500-1,000 - Transport service (Bangkok → Shanghai): ฿15,000-35,000 - Import permit (China): ¥200-500 - Quarantine fees (if applicable): varies ## Why Use PetThai?
